about

In preparation for their September 8th album launch at the Melba Spiegeltent, Melbourne country artist Ben Mastwyk and his psychedelic honky-tonk outfit THE MILLIONS headed to Abbotsford's Aviary studios to capture a number of brand new tracks, live and raw. Recorded direct to tape by the Aviary’s Fraser Montgomery and shot by filmmaker and fellow Americana song-man James Arneman the band put down live versions of new original material from the forthcoming WINNING STREAK LP.

This Country is a high-octane seventies-inspired country funk track. This live rendition and video shows off Mastwyk’s Millions in full flight and is the first teaser of the bigger, bolder sounds to be showcased on his sophomore release. This rollicking country ensemble features Ben Franz (The Waifs), Josh Duiker (Clifton Hillbillies), Michael Hubbard (The Bluebottles), Craig Kelly (Rich Davies). Joining the boys on vocals and honky tonk piano is kiwi songstress Lisa Crawley.

lyrics

The old radio's not sounding quite the same these days
And the people I got singing are playing different games
And the blow back from last evening could go on for days
The old radio's not sounding quite the same these days

Have you ever heard your name down the radio wire
And just kicked back down home, let it roll for a while
While all the people that you know run around filling time
Have you ever heard your name down the radio wire

And I never quite thought that I'd be feeling this way
And just kick back down home take a bet each way
And who knows if I'm losing, kinda hard to say
And I never quite thought that I'd be feeling this way

This country's not keeping up with my life these days
